Edale, a Canon company focusing on flexographic printing and converting solutions, has announced a refresh to its range of label and folding carton presses, to further align its offering with Canon’s portfolio.

The news, which was teased to the industry ahead of Labelexpo Europe in September, will see new names for Edale’s existing range – the Edale LabelLine FL4e and LabelLine FL4p for labels, and Edale CartonLine FL6p and CartonLine FL7p for folding cartons.

The refresh sees the introduction of new performance tiers, namely the Essential (e) range engineered more for day-to-day production and the Precision (p) range designed for premium applications and higher volumes.

The refreshed models also adopt a more cohesive industrial design that aims to reflect Canon’s core aesthetic, helping customers to recognise the platform, tier, and intended use of the machine.

Lachlan Buirds, managing director at Edale, says: “This is about clarity and capability.

“We’ve aligned the look and feel of the machines with those of Canon, and we’ve simplified the story so buyers can navigate requirements with confidence. And under the skin, it’s the same Edale engineering with single-pass efficiency, HD flexo quality, and intelligent automation that helps converters do more with less.”

The Edale LabelLine FL4e is a 430mm narrow-web label press designed for short-to-medium runs, while the Edale LabelLine FL4p is a 430 to 570mm press with advanced registration control, optional inline embellishment, and modular upgrades for premium labels.

Moving to Edale’s CartonLine range, the CartonLine FL6p is a 600 to 650mm single-pass folding carton press that integrates print, varnish, embellishment, die-cutting, and stripping inline with the aim of cutting lead times and freeing up floor space.

Finally, the Edale CartonLine FL7p is a 760 to 1000mm platform for wider-format or higher-volume carton work, designed to combine single-pass capabilities with premium embellishment compatibility and modular growth.

Time of Change

The news is part of a major growth strategy by the UK print manufacturer, which includes a series of personnel being appointed in quick succession.

Buirds himself was only hired as Edale’s new managing director in June. At the time of the appointment, Edale stated a clear intent for Buirds to drive the next stage of the company’s growth strategy.

In recent weeks, Rob Brown was announced in the new role of sales and marketing director for Edale, in readiness for the official market launch of the refreshed CartonLine and LabelLine range in 2026.

Speaking following his appointment, Brown said: “Edale is perfectly positioned to help customers future proof their business for where the market is heading – more automation, more single-pass capability, and more converters broadening their offering across labels and cartons.

“I’m excited to help shape a global strategy that turns Edale’s technology into real competitive advantage for our customers.”

In 2025, Edale also appointed a new head of sales for both the APAC and EMEA regions, while also announcing Imagraf as its new official distributor for Spain and Portugal.
