All of Konica Minolta’s colour production systems are now Fogra certified

The Konica Minolta AccurioPress C84hc has become the only high chroma toner system on the market to be awarded the internationally recognised FograCert Validation Printing System (VPS) certification.

Fogra, an independent German research institute for media technologies, grants certification to systems that meet ISO standards across a range of measurable criteria.

To earn Fogra accreditation, the AccurioPress C84hc underwent testing across multiple production scenarios to assess capabilities including PDF/X conformance, proofing substrate colour, gloss and fluorescence, colour accuracy, uniformity, permanence, and light fastness.

Other factors tested were fading, long and short-term repeatability, print rub resistance, colourimetric tone value transfer, tone value reproduction limits, image register, and resolving power and margin information.

The AccurioPress C84hc passed with distinction in two tested controller configurations: Konica Minolta’s proprietary IC-609 configuration and the optional EFI Fiery IC-317.

The achievement means that all of Konica Minolta’s current colour production systems are now officially Fogra certified.

Launched in summer 2024, the AccurioPress C84hc is an 80ppm digital press powered by Konica Minolta’s fifth-generation high chroma toner.

This toner technology significantly expands the colour gamut in comparison to previous models, particularly in light blue, green, pink, purple, and magenta, with the aim of enabling more vivid and accurate reproduction of RGB images that often lose vibrancy in standard CMYK workflows.

Malcolm Smith, category manager of Professional Print at Konica Minolta Business Solutions UK, says: “The successful AccurioPress C84hc has already made a strong impression with its ability to deliver vibrant, high-impact colour that meets the creative demands of today’s market.

“This Fogra certification is a powerful endorsement , not just of the technology, but of the consistent quality and reliability our customers expect. It’s a game-changer for UK print businesses looking to push boundaries, find new opportunities, and unlock new revenue streams with confidence.”

Konica Minolta at The Print Show
GD Print purchased an AccurioPress C14010s and C7090 ENHANCED at The Print Show

Konica Minolta Business Solutions UK also recently announced a number of sales it achieved at The Print Show last week.

At the show, Konica Minolta provided commercial print specialist GD Print with a new AccurioPress C14010s and AccurioPress C7090 ENHANCED to evolve its production facility.

The GD Print team joined Konica Minolta on its stand at the NEC in Birmingham to place the order for the new production presses.

GD Print’s AccurioPress C14010S includes the TU510e inline trimming unit, with the press offering fifth colour capabilities on a broad range of sheets up to 1,300mm and as thick as 450gsm, with a max speed of 140ppm.

Craig Dobbs, managing director of GD Print, says: "We are thrilled to announce our investment in the new AccurioPress C14010s and AccurioPress C7090 ENHANCED, which will become the cornerstones of our printing operations.

“While we bid farewell to our trusted Konica Minolta C14000e press, this upgrade brings a significant boost in quality, enhanced automation, and unmatched flexibility – key elements to support our business as it continues to grow and evolve."

Signage and graphics specialist, Graphix Limited, also purchased a AccurioPress C7090 ENHANCED at the trade exhibition.

The recently launched AccurioPress C7090 ENHANCED is designed to meet the fast-paced demands of modern print businesses, with speeds of up to 90ppm and support for media up to 400gsm and 900mm in length, including embossed and textured stocks.

The press has been developed to provide advanced automation features, intuitive setup, and reduced manual adjustments with single-operator capabilities. The press was purchased to boost Graphix’s small-format output.

Brian Duffy, director of Graphix Limited, says: “We are excited to confirm our order for the new AccurioPress C7090 ENHANCED which will be at the centre of our small-format printing.

“It replaces a previous faithful Konica Minolta press but will deliver additional increases in speed along with greater levels of automation and flexibility, which are essential to our evolving and growing business.”
