Plasmatreat will showcase its plasma technology for print at drupa 2024

Supplier of atmospheric pressure plasma systems and equipment, Plasmatreat, will showcase its plasma technology for print at drupa 2024.
The company will demonstrate the pretreatment of cardboard packaging and folding cartons prior to gluing and printing.
Partnering with inkjet provider DJM, folding cartons already coated with UV varnish will be treated live with Openair-Plasma and printed directly at the Plasmatreat booth.
Openair-Plasma is atmospheric-pressure plasma that creates ideal adhesion properties for subsequent processing steps such as gluing, printing, foiling, or lacquering.
The benefits of this include cost efficiency, expanded material selection, selective, or full-surface treatment options.
According to Plasmatreat, its Openair-Plasma system simplifies the process of gluing points for areas of folding cartons that need to be individually printed as the plasma nozzles can be installed directly into the pre-gluing machine.
This means that the folding cartons are pre-treated directly in the manufacturing process in the areas that are to be individually printed, that are to be printed later, or in the areas of the glued seams.
The system, developed with DJM and built for drupa, uses the PFW70 wide slot die for wide or full-surface applications.
Drupa 2024 will take place from May 28th to June 7th in the Dusseldorf Exhibition Centre, Germany.
