Print Tomorrow, a new industry initiative aiming to broaden careers access for the UK print sector, has been officially launched by its founder, Elizabeth Bowerman

A new industry initiative has been launched which aims to broaden access to careers across the UK print, communications, and visual media sectors.
Print Tomorrow, founded by Elizabeth Bowerman, will seek to help print and its associated industries attract, develop, and retain a more diverse range of talent, with the aim of ensuring that it remains equipped for future growth.
The initiative will focus on raising awareness of modern careers in print and communications, while supporting outreach activities in education, government, and communities. It will also aim to promote opportunities for career changers and underrepresented groups while facilitating mentoring, networking, and industry engagement.
Bowerman was previously a founder of Young People in Print (YPIP), an initiative set up to help the industry promote itself as a career choice for young people. The organisation has since been renamed to Young People in Print & Packaging (YPIPP), with the name changed to better represent its commitment to the UK packaging industry.
Speaking about her new Print Tomorrow initiative, Bowerman says: “The print industry offers exciting, rewarding, and future-focused careers, but too many people simply don’t know the opportunities exist. Print Tomorrow has been created to change that.
“We’re not trying to replicate the excellent work already being done across the industry. Print Tomorrow exists to complement those efforts by reaching audiences who may never have considered print as a career option, whether they’re 18, 28, or 38.”
The Print Tomorrow initiative was established in response to the employment challenges facing many print-associated businesses, with the organisation feeling that “while print has transformed dramatically in recent years, awareness of the career opportunities it offers has not kept pace.”
Print Tomorrow argues that the modern print industry extends beyond the traditional roles associated with it, now encompassing data, automation, digital communications, creative services, and emerging technologies. However, they believe that many are unaware of the breadth of opportunities available, resulting in a talent pipeline that does not reflect the diversity of roles available.
Bowerman adds: “By bringing together businesses, educators, and industry professionals, we can help open the door to a wider and more diverse talent pool. This isn’t just about attracting more people into print – it’s about ensuring the industry reflects the communities and customers it serves while securing the skills it needs for the future.”
The initiative has invited organisations and individuals across the industry to get involved. Businesses can support the programme through outreach activities, mentoring, work experience opportunities, apprenticeships, advocacy, and collaboration. Industry professionals have also been encouraged to share their experiences online to help inspire the next generation of talent.
Print Tomorrow will be exhibiting at The Print Show later this year, with Elizabeth Bowerman in attendance to promote her new venture and speak to prospective industry partners.
