The British Coatings Federation (BCF) has highlighted the importance of recruiting apprentices in order to form the next generation of workers in the coatings industry.

This year’s National Apprentice Week is themed around ‘Skills for Life’ which has prompted the federation to highlight the way employers can recruit apprentices.

The BCF was formed to represent the interests of the decorative, industrial, and powder coatings, printing inks, and wallcovering manufacturers. The association works with businesses through a variety of means such as events, statistics, and industry advice.

In its latest release, the BCF highlights how apprenticeships are a great way of equipping young professionals with the skills to set them up for careers in specialist industries.

The BCF’s Apprenticeship Service can help paint, ink, and wallcovering companies find and hire new apprentices across all disciplines and functions. The service has been purpose built for BCF members by the Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA).

Tom Bowtell, chief executive officer of the BCF, says: “BCF actively supports apprenticeship schemes, and we hope to see more members taking up opportunities to train employees across the coatings sector in future. We believe we have some great solutions for our members to take advantage of, and apprenticeships are a great way to either upskill existing staff or bring in new recruits.

“Our team at the BCF Apprenticeship Service are fully committed to helping the coatings industry with this significant challenge faced with recruiting new staff in the current climate. So, check out our Coatings Careers Hub today and find out how you can make a difference.”

The BCF has highlighted how at least 95% of the training costs of apprenticeships are funded by the governments, making them a cost-effective way to develop skills and knowledge within your workforce.

Tiro, a dedicated training provider for science and technology apprenticeships, provides a specialist programme in laboratory and manufacturing work, as well as funding for the BCF’s Coatings Training Institute.

Apprenticeship roles can also occur in a number of departments such as HR, sales, IT, administration, and accounts.

In recognition of National Apprenticeship Week, the BCF provides an Apprenticeship service built for BCF Members by the Apprenticeship Training Agency. ‘Hiring our apprentices have added massive value to our business and assisted us greatly. Both of them are valued assets and we could not be without them now. We have been so impressed by the programme we are currently recruiting another apprentice' - Thermaset Ltd For more information: https://lnkd.in/eiW7E6z #NationalApprenticeshipWeek2023 #NAW2023
