Glasgow-based printing company, Love & Humphries, has appointed business strategist Malcolm Morrison to a non-executive role.

Morrison has been hired as non-executive director to provide independent oversight to the independent Scottish print firm, offering guidance on business issues which relate to SMEs.

The appointment is part of plans by Love & Humphries to “carve out new markets”, according to the company.

Morrison is a former partner at Clydesdale Bank and relationship director at Santander, as well as director of GMG Energy, a Scottish provider of wood pellets for biomass boilers and timber from renewable sources.

The Scottish SME, which bills itself as ‘the clever printing company’, also recently secured a contract from US customer, SuperTuffMenus, to provide a wipeable, washable menu card used by a range of restaurant brands.

It provides offerings in a variety of print materials including uncoated, offset, cotton, and pulpboard, as well as special effects including foil, mirror board, emboss, and deboss.

Speaking of Morrison’s appointment, Philip Wilson, director of Love & Humphries, says: “Everyone in the firm is delighted that we have been able to attract a business personality of Malcolm Morrison’s calibre for the important non-executive role.

“He has a huge range of experience in a wide variety of different sectors and has made valuable contributions to other enterprises across Scotland. I am sure that he will be instrumental in helping us to focus on our business goals.”

Commenting on the general landscape of the Scottish printing industry, Morrison continues: “The print industry in Scotland has always been a challenging environment, especially at a time when technology is changing so fast and altering the way we operate.

“We are very pleased to have Malcolm on board to assist us with these challenges and opportunities.”

Speaking of his new role, Morrison adds: “Love & Humphries may be a small business at the moment, but I am sure that there is terrific potential within Philip and his team, as they have proven by opening up new avenues for business expansion, including exports.

“I will be delighted to offer my experience to assist growth in the company in any way I can, and I look forward very much to working with them.”
