Provider of digital print solutions, Ricoh, has continued its longstanding partnership with Poplar Services Printers which has become the first company in the UK to install both the Ricoh Pro C9500 and Pro C7500.

The investment means Poplar, a provider of digital print services based in St Helens, will be able to increase its capacity, offer new print colours, as well as expand into short-run packaging.

Poplar visited Ricoh’s showroom earlier in the year where it saw the printers as well as the Morgana FB9000 Pro flatbed cutter which the company invested in after seeing it demonstrated with the C9500 and Pro C7500.

Martin Winders, managing director at Poplar, comments: “Having operated the Ricoh Pro C9110 prior, we felt it was a natural next step to upgrade to the newest technology within Ricoh. We decided to add the Pro C7500 to allow us to offer our clients further special colours such as Neon Yellow, Neon Pink, Metallic Silver, Metallic Gold, White, Clear and Security UV Red.

“[…] Earlier this month, we completed our first order for a pharmaceutical client creating them a box printed in CMYK plus Metallic Silver, then cut out on our flatbed cutter. This technology opens doors and having now completed the full training and testing on all kit we are ready to unleash our new capabilities as the first company in the UK offering this full service.”

Recently Ricoh has emphasised the importance of automation and workflow through its office, software, and production products and will continue to speak to the industry on these topics throughout 2024.

On October 16th the company will be showcasing new technologies featured at drupa as well as market insights from a report titled ‘A New Narrative for Print’.

The event, held in Telford, will be hosted by Brendan Perring, general manager for the Independent Print Industries Association (IPIA), who will share short keynotes and unveil the new exclusive Ricoh market report.

Recently Print Monthly spoke to Tim Carter, commercial print director at Ricoh Graphic Communications, about the importance of embracing automation. Click here to read more.
