Established in 1991, Xeretec was founded by two former employees of Xerox with the vision of providing reliable digital print hardware and solutions at a time in which the industry was going through a massive modernisation process.

Recently, Richard Nevard joined the company as general manager of sales, bringing with him an extensive history in print sales and leadership. Nevard says that he has helped organisations adapt to evolving market demands and is passionate about understanding what customers need and delivering solutions that can support their goals.

Here we speak to Nevard about the history of Xeretec, what products it has recently launched, and how the company is keeping up with modern trends.

Award-Winning Service

Having recently joined the company, Nevard has joined Xeretec with a focus on aligning sales strategies with the changing needs of customers, especially those in the production print space. Nevard says: “It’s an exciting time to be part of Xeretec. I’m looking forward to contributing to our growth and helping our customers get the most from their print and IT investments.”

Founded in 1991 by two former employees of Xerox, Alyn Jenkins and Mark Duffelen set up Xeretec in Wokingham with 15 employees and a vision of providing reliable digital print hardware and solutions at a time when digital print was starting to shake up the industry.

Nevard notes: “It was clear even then that the future of print would be about more than machines – it would be about how technology, software, and support services integrated together.”

Fast forward to today and Nevard says that Xeretec has grown organically and through targeted acquisitions. The company operates across the UK and Ireland, helping organisations modernise print hardware and IT infrastructures.

“We offer an integrated portfolio of services specifically designed for production print providers. At our core, we’re a Xerox Platinum Concessionaire, and that helps us deliver cutting-edge technology supported by real technical and practical know-how,” says Nevard, who adds: “We help businesses optimise their production environments – from front-end automation and job onboarding to output and finishing.

“Our knowledge of automation and workflow tools, for instance, enable customers to significantly reduce manual touchpoints and increase throughput.”

Another significant area of the business is web-to-print platforms, which it helps customers roll out in order to improve ordering experiences as well as open new revenue channels. “Add to that our cross-media marketing tools and personalised print capabilities, and our customers are better equipped to help end-users run far more relevant and targeted marketing campaigns,” says Nevard.

Nevard also points to signage as an area the company naturally “spills into” outside of its core area of production print. When it comes to large-format and finishing equipment, Nevard says the company is seeing growing interest in how digital print can complement and enhance signage workflows.

Xeretec’s work has also led to several awards and accreditations over the years including becoming Xerox Platinum Partner and Finance Partner of the Year, as well as being listed as one of the top 1000 companies to inspire Britain and Europe, all in 2017.

Nevard also highlights Xeretec winning Service Team of the Year 2022 and Reseller of the Year (Turnover £9m+) in 2023 and 2024, all at the Print IT Awards. Nevard says these are examples of how such awards can strengthen a business’ reputation in the industry.

Our ethos is all about enabling intelligent decision-making that saves time, money, and resources, and protects the environment

“At Xeretec, we encourage our clients to STOP – Stop, Think, Optimise, and Plan,” explains Nevard, adding: “It’s a methodology we use to help organisations rethink how they manage IT and print infrastructure – from procurement through to decommissioning. Our ethos is all about enabling intelligent decision-making that saves time, money, and resources, and protects the environment.”

Building the Future

Over the years Xeretec has made a number of changes to become Xerox’s largest partner in Europe. This has happened through planning, diversification, and a number of acquisitions including what the company sees as a pivotal moment in 2014.

Bytes Document Solutions, a £19.5m turnover business, was acquired by Xeretec in 2014, taking the company’s revenue to over £57m and setting it on its £100m goal. The procurement was then followed by the purchases of ROI Digital, North East Reprographics, and Solution X which all enhanced the company’s service reach and technical capabilities.

“Our acquisition of the Landscape Group was another major milestone,” says Nevard, adding: “It made the group the most accredited HP managed print services provider in the UK and gave us a leading edge in delivering hybrid environments featuring both Xerox and HP technology.”

When it comes to what is unique about Xeretec, Nevard comments: “It’s the breadth and depth of our expertise. We don’t just sell boxes – we understand the print industry from the inside out. Our team includes specialists with decades of experience across all major manufacturers. That means we can offer unbiased, tailored advice based on real operational insight.”

Amongst its range of clients, Xeretec has highlighted work with Clarkeprint, Bang on Books, MAD Colour, Graphico, and DG3L, to name a few. In 2021 Xeretec Ireland invested €500,000 (£427,448) in the areas of Donegal and Sligo, in order to expand Xerox’s presence in North West Ireland, furthering support for businesses in that area.

When it comes to the future, the business has a number of solutions and technologies that have been developed to answer modern requirements. Xeretec has partner with KOcycle, a provider of IT asset disposition (ITAD), in order to help sustainability efforts by helping customers with full compliance with data protection laws and a reduction in e-waste, through certified reuse and recycling.

Xeretec is also investing in the future via AI-powered threat detection, cloud print management, workflow automation, and analytic tools. “We’ve recently rolled our Digital Workspace offering, designed to give organisations greater flexibility, security, and control over their IT environments,” explains Nevard.

“As part of this, we’ve launched a new free Windows 11 PC Assessment service to help businesses understand device readiness, performance implications, and hardware upgrade pathways. In addition, our Azure Assessment provides deep insight into cloud infrastructure optimisation, while our Microsoft 365 Assessment identifies opportunities to improve licensing efficiency and data governance across the Microsoft ecosystem. These services are aimed at technology and print-dependent businesses, helping them to make informed, strategic decisions about how to manage and modernise their IT.”

To conclude, Nevard emphasises that Xeretec is more than a reseller, describing the company as a partner to either start-up print businesses or large enterprises. “We’re here to help you grow, stay secure, and succeed in an industry that’s more competitive than ever, and where the right technology can make all the difference.”
