Micropress has invested in a number of Heidelberg kit including the 18,000sph ten-colour Speedmaster XL 106 with Push-to-Stop technology

The £3.75m investment covers a number of machines, but centres around an 18,000sph ten-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 with Push-to-Stop technology. This is replacing an older five-colour Heidelberg 2015 XL 106-5.

Micropress’ press hall now houses three long perfectors, including the new ten-colour and two eight-colour XL 106s and a B2 five-colour XL75. The company has also replaced a competitor folder with a second TH82-P Stahlfolder, a Stahl TH 82-P high-speed folder with Palamides delivery, and robotic P-Stacker for extra folding capacity. As a result, all folders at Micropress are now Heidelberg Stahlfolders.

We are building for the future. The new ten-colour should give us about 15% extra capacity.

Director of Micropress, Rob Cross says: “We are building for the future. The new ten-colour should give us about 15% extra capacity. It’s our first ten-colour and first 18,000sph press. You’ve got to invest to stay competitive, and it’s a good time to reinvest and look at the business and the growth we want to achieve.”

Ryan Miles, managing director at Heidelberg UK, adds: “The Speedmaster XL 106 is the right machine for frequent job changes. Its constantly high quality with steady production speeds of 18,000 sheets per hour in straight printing or perfecting mode is also impressive in longer runs.

“The intelligent interaction of the automation components enables cost-effective production of all printing products.”
Micropress produces a range of work including brochures, catalogues, books, magazines, and high-run leaflets, as well as operating a publishing arm.
