Formara Print & Marketing has invested in new inkjet production technology to expand its short-run printing capabilities, responding to increasing demand for faster turnaround and personalised print.

The investment sees Formara install a Kirk-Rudy Firejet 4C from AMS Mailing Systems, a production inkjet system designed to bridge the gap between toner-based printers and large production presses.

The Firejet 4C combines Kirk-Rudy’s core transport engineering machinery with Memjet inkjet technology, enabling full-bleed colour printing across a wide range of substrates.

With a resolution of up to 1600dpi, the press offers reported speeds of up to 150ft/min and production of up to 18,000 full-colour envelopes per hour.

By bringing this capability in-house, Formara hopes to offer greater flexibility and improved cost control, particularly for clients running targeted campaigns.

Andy Pond, managing director at Formara Print & Marketing, says: “Client demand has shifted towards shorter runs, quicker turnaround, and more targeted print. This investment allows us to meet those expectations efficiently, while maintaining the quality and reliability our clients expect.”

Products produced by the solution includes envelopes, postcards, flyers, posters, gift bags, napkins, coffee sleeves, and coasters, expanding the creative and commercial scope of short-run print applications.

Additional integrated XColor RIP and colour management software is also included, supporting workflow control and colour consistency, as well as built-in consumables cost tracking which can provide greater transparency and efficiency in production.

Practical features such as simplified printhead replacement and a pneumatic lift for the print module are designed to support reliability in a busy production environment.

In a statement on the machinery purchase, Formara adds: “This investment reflects a wider shift in how print is being used, with businesses increasingly favouring agile, responsive print strategies over bulk quantities.

“Formara’s latest technology investment ensures it remains well positioned to support evolving client requirements across marketing, retail, hospitality, and direct mail, delivering agile solutions for a wide range of customer-facing applications.”

AMS Mailing System provides a range of Kirk-Rudy’s solutions for addressing and paper handling, developed for the direct mail, printing, newspaper and card industries.
