Andy Webb leaves Fujifilm for Soyang Europe

Soyang Europe has appointed Andy Webb as its new commercial director, as part of its goals to further strengthen its hardware team.

As commercial director, Webb will be responsible for Soyang’s entire range of hardware solutions, aiming to drive the continued growth and development of the company’s offerings. He joins Soyang following a career spanning senior roles with major print technology manufacturers including Fujifilm and Canon.

Speaking about his new role at Soyang Europe, Webb says: “I’m delighted to be joining the Soyang team. I’ve been working alongside the company for a number of years and am really pleased to now be part of such a great group of like-minded people.

“I’m looking forward to helping grow the Soyang hardware business. There is a huge amount of opportunity in the wide-format market, and I’m excited about building on the strong foundations already in place.”

Webb previously worked as head of inkjet and packaging (UK) for Fujifilm, before announcing that he would leave the manufacturer in a recent post on LinkedIn.

In the post, Webb said “[It was] The most enjoyable and fulfilling four years of my career. It was truly an honour to represent Fujifilm and the Inkjet and Packaging businesses. Lots of ups, lots of downs and a lot of laughs.”

Webb’s departure follows a sequence of internal product restructuring and corporate reorganisation at Fujifilm. This includes the decision to discontinue the Acuity Prime and Ultra range of wide-format printers, with the company shifting more focus to print-on-demand (POD) and office solutions.

This shift in focus was highlighted at Fujifilm’s recent Make More partner event, which included the launch of the Revoria PC2120 POD press and the Apeos C3567 series and C3061 series of multifunction office printers.

Fujifilm has also recently announced plans to partially spin off its Business Innovation wing into a separate listed entity on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Alongside Webb’s appointment, Ian Windebank has also been hired by Soyang Europe as its new wide-format print specialist.

Windebank will report directly to Webb and work closely with the wider hardware team, bringing more than a decade of print experience to the role, including eleven years with InkTec Europe.

In his new role at Soyang, Windebank will focus on supporting customers with their print technology requirements, from identifying suitable solutions through to helping them make informed investment decisions.

Windebank adds: “I am very proud to be joining Soyang. I’m looking forward to working alongside Andy and the rest of the team, drawing on my experience to support Soyang’s customers and help them identify the right technology for their businesses.

“It’s an exciting time to be part of the company and I’m keen to play my part in building on its success and helping the business move forward.”
