Baker Labels, a UK family-run trade printer of self-adhesive labels which also specialises in materials and packaging, has completed two successful deals at drupa in order to continue the expansion of its business.

Bakers will now expand both its BakPac flexible packaging division as well as its labels division with deals valuing nearly £2.25m.

Recently the business has been focused on the installation of its second Galaxy Packtech pouch converter in its new factory facility and intended to only visit drupa to research new technologies and solutions.

However, with the growth of its digitally printed flexible packaging with BakPac in 2020, Steve Baker and his sons Harry and Tom Baker wished to build on the success of the business’s HP Indigo 200K, installed in January 2024, with a second purchase from HP.

Steve Baker, comments: “We have been seriously impressed with the performance and productivity levels of the 200K that we installed in January this year. This has enabled us to go for and win larger contracts with confidence which is excellent news for our business. We are confident this growth will continue and to ensure we are able to maintain an excellent, fast service the second 200K press was an easy choice to make.

“The way the HP team was able to react at such short notice to put this deal together was very impressive and I look forward to more collaboration with the guys in the future!”

As well as the new HP Indigo 200K the team at Bakers also secured a deal with Durst Group, making the Durst TAU 340 Baker Label’s first investment with the Italian-based manufacturer.

The new press is expected to be installed within three months and is hoped to take its inkjet quality to a “new level”.

Simon Cosh, UKI label business development manager for Durst Group, says: “I’m absolutely delighted that Bakers have placed its faith and invested in the Durst TAU RSC. It’s the first RSC with LED and the new Hawk AI scanning system in the UK - so the height of inkjet technology. We look forward to a fruitful partnership that pushes the boundaries and capabilities of inkjet for labels and packaging.”

Bakers has prided itself on independence, stating that being a family run business has given the company the ability to make quick, dynamic decisions to keep the company on the forefront OF trends and new advancements.
