Coveris and Interzero have formed a strategic partnership to advance circular economy

Coveris, an international packaging manufacturer, has announced a new strategic partnership with environmental service provider, Interzero.

The latest collaboration has been dubbed a ‘ground-breaking milestone’ by Coveris and Interzero as the two organisations look to advance circular economy.

Interzero provides environmental services including waste management, closed-loop solutions, and ‘innovative’ plastics recycling.

The collaboration means both companies will support one another in the aim of eliminating waste in all its forms, something Coveris has already tackled through its No Waste strategy and ReCover recycling process for plastics.

Interzero’s collected and sorted materials will now be processed by Coveris’ ReCover entities, producing recycled resins through mechanical recycling. The resins will be used in Coveris’ high-performance packaging products like Duralite R collation films.

Christian Kolarik, chief executive officer at Coveris, says: "We are excited about this partnership with Interzero as it aligns perfectly with our No Waste vision. By integrating well sorted post-consumer waste into our recycling processes, we are taking a significant step towards completely closing the loop."

Jan Kroker, chief executive officer at Interzero, adds: "Collaborating with Coveris allows us to leverage our expertise in waste collection and sorting to support the creation of high-quality recycled resins.

“Together, we can make a substantial impact on reducing waste. The circular economy is a joint project that benefits everyone. We are shaping the circular economy of tomorrow - for a world without waste."

Both companies say that the strategic partnership means that Coveris and Interzero are creating an advantage in the entire value chain by helping to achieve sustainability goals like reducing CO2, securing raw materials, and adhering to government packaging and waste regulations.
