Fiery, a developer of digital front ends (DFEs) and workflow software for the print industry, has announced the release of a new DFE to boost the performance of the Sharp BP-1200S/C digital press in America.

Developed alongside Sharp, the new BP-PE12 DFE is based on Fiery’s previous FS600 Pro software platform, aiming to deliver maximised press performance, an expanded colour gamut, and a range of automation tools to streamline workflows.

The solution comes with a raft of automation features. This includes an Intelligent HyperRIP technology, which processes pages and jobs simultaneously to significantly decrease RIP processing time.

A Job Groups feature allows users to treat multiple jobs like one within the Fiery Command work station, allowing for more efficient job management. This works alongside a Print Scheduler feature, designed to make programming print jobs easier through a simplified visual interface.

The new BP-PE12 DFE also extends the Sharp press’s colour gamut, using pink toner for an expanded range of colours. The pink gamut extension has been added to improve overall colour vibrancy, while keeping memory colours such as skin tones unaffected.

An ImageViewer function has been added which allows operators to preview before and after colour results, aiming to ensure colour expectations are met before printing begins.

A range smart prepress tools have also been developed for the DFE, developed to make prepress, imposition, and operator training easier.

This includes a Smart Estimator which provides a cost estimate for toner and ink usage before beginning a print job.

A Graphic Arts Pro package is also available, offering a range of prepress tools designed to identify and correct print production problems before they result in rejected jobs and wasted clicks.

In addition, a JobExpert tool, which analyses incoming PDF files to dynamically choose the optimal print settings which achieve the highest quality while optimising processing time.

John Henze, vice president of sales and marketing at Fiery, says: “Fiery’s DFE technology is constantly evolving to deliver new capabilities and benefits to print businesses and help you get the most out of your investments in new presses.

“Our partnership with Sharp combines the power of Fiery’s most advanced DFEs with Sharp’s BP-1200S/C press to deliver the performance, colour, and automation that help you stand out from the competition.”

Dino Pagliarello, vice president of product management and production print at Sharp, adds: "At Sharp, we’re committed to helping our customers achieve ‘simply smarter’ work, and partnering with a qualified leader like Fiery allows us to deliver on that promise.

“Fiery’s cutting-edge DFE technology combined with our BP-1200S/C press ensures unparalleled performance, brilliant colour, and seamless automation that empowers businesses to stand out in today’s competitive market."

The new version of the Fiery DFE for the Sharp BP-1200S/C is available now from Sharp dealers in the United States, with a global rollout planned in due course.

Fiery recently exhibited at this year’s FESPA Global Print Expo, where the company demonstrated its range of smart workflows and print solutions alongside live demonstrations from experts in print.
