Konica Minolta has formally announced the liquidation of its WUXI imaging product plant in China, resulting in a predicted financial loss of ¥6bn
Konica Minolta has announced its intention to liquidate a manufacturing subsidiary in China, which has been calculated to result in a financial loss of approximately ¥6bn (£31.7m).
Konica Minolta Business Technologies, also known as Konica Minolta WUXI, primarily produces imaging products and office machines.
The company first decided to end production at the WUXI plant in Jiangsu province, China, on August 20th, 2024. The plant then ceased operations in February 2025.
As of April 10th, the decision has been formally made to proceed with the plant’s liquidation as part of a strategy to optimise its production efficiency and refine the company’s global supply chain. The completion of the liquidation is planned for the middle of the 2026 financial year.
The closure is expected to result in a ¥6bn (£31.7m) loss for Konica Minolta for the fiscal year ending March 2025, impacting the company’s financial outlook in the short term. However, the decision aligns with the company’s medium-term business plan to tighten its business selection and concentration.
Despite the short-term financial impact, Konica Minolta is committed to driving innovation and ensuring a stable supply system for its customers worldwide.
The news comes amidst a number of new releases from the print manufacturer.
In March, Konica Minolta released two new AccurioPress solutions to the market, namely the C14010/S and C12010/S.
The commercial print presses aim to offer consistently high performance and speed, achieving print speeds of up to 140ppm and 120ppm respectively. The S models also come with fifth colour capabilities, allowing businesses to explore new creative avenues with specialist inks.
In the same month, the manufacturer also released the GBC CL-401 inline laminator, a finishing unit for its AccurioPress range.
The laminator includes a newly developed cold lamination process which eliminates the usual warm-up time needed for laminating. Konica Minolta has described the CL-401 as “the world’s first inline finisher to offer lamination directly after the print process.”
