Fiery, a global provider of digital front ends (DFEs) and workflow software for the print industry, has announced the appointment of a new chief executive officer, following the departure of its long-time leader, Toby Weiss.

Micah Kornberg, Fiery’s previous chief financial and operating officer, was officially announced as the new head of the company last week, with Weiss leaving to become the new chief executive officer of cybersecurity company, Securonix.

Kornberg arrives to the role with significant experience in streamlining costs and optimising profitability during market changes, having spent 2025 managing Fiery’s finances and operations. The internal promotion also signals a desire by Fiery to keep its strategic roadmap steady, avoiding the disruption of an outside hire.

Weiss spent 17 years leading Fiery, initially joining Electronics For Imaging (EFI) in 2009 as senior vice president and general manager of the flagship DFE business before spearheading Fiery's separation from EFI in 2023 to establish as an independent entity.

During his tenure, Weiss oversaw strategic acquisitions including direct-to-film (DTF) software company, CADlink, in 2022 and textile printing specialist, Inèdit Software, in 2026. He also managed the company during its $591m (£443m) acquisition by Seiko Epson Corporation in late 2024, ensuring Fiery maintained its operational independence and brand identity.

Speaking after the announcement, Weiss says: “Leading the team at Fiery has been an honour for me.

“I love the print industry but decided for personal reasons to take on the challenges of leading a company in the field of cybersecurity, which is where I spent my early career prior to joining Fiery. Micah has been an instrumental part of Fiery’s management team for over 15 years, and I have full confidence that he will continue to expand Fiery’s role as the leading DFE technology provider in digital print.”

Micah Kornberg joined Fiery in 2011 when former parent company, EFI, purchased self-service mobile printing developer, Entrac, which Kornberg was president of. He then served as vice president and executive sponsor for Fiery’s enterprise accounts division, before becoming Fiery’s chief financial and operating officer in 2025.

Speaking about Weiss’ departure and his new role, Kornberg adds: “Toby has been an exceptional leader for over a decade and a half, and his efforts have positioned Fiery extremely well for continued DFE technology leadership and diversified growth. I’m honoured to take the reins and look forward to guiding Fiery to even greater success in the next chapter of its journey.”

The new appointment comes amid a busy period for Fiery, with a series of software releases coming from the print software company in quick succession in recent months.

January marked the launch of Fiery XF 9, the latest release of Fiery’s software RIP, colour management, and workflow solution designed to streamline wide-format print production.

In March, the company launched Fiery Scribe, an agentic AI solution that introduced a range of features to automate print job submissions and automate email-to-print workflows.

By May, Fiery had also rolled out the next-generation Fiery FS700 Pro platform, first introduced for the Xerox Proficio PX500 and PX300 production presses, which is designed to simplify job setup, reduce downtime, and help deliver more consistent, premium output.

In the period following the Epson acquisition, Fiery’s tech solutions have focused on operational resilience, native AI integration, and expanding the digital textile ecosystem following their own acquisition of Inèdit Software.

At the same time, a foundational part of Fiery’s roadmap has continued to focus on staying brand agnostic, providing DFEs and workflow solutions for competing print manufacturers without any perception of favouritism toward its parent company, Epson."any, Epson.
